After that initial setup, the device generally remembers the keyboard.
A wireless USB keyboard communicates with a small receiver, sometimes called a dongle. The receiver plugs into a USB port, and the keyboard is normally paired with it at the factory. You don't usually open Bluetooth settings or enter a pairing code; you plug in the receiver, turn on the keyboard, and start typing.
Most wireless USB keyboards use a dedicated 2.4 GHz connection rather than Bluetooth. That distinction matters because the receiver is part of the keyboard's connection system. If it is lost, damaged, or incompatible with the keyboard, the keyboard may stop being useful even though the keys and batteries are fine.
